Whats it been? like a month? (pic overload)

I won't type much here, except that it has been a wonderful busy month with lots of fun!  I'll just post a comment with each picture!  I am very sorry to all of those people I missed while visiting St. George.  It seems like there is never enough time and I'm not sure I spent enough time with even my families, so I hope y'all can understand!  Any how,  I hope everyone had  a very wonderful Christ-mas season!  Love,  Sara

Craft night!!

When the relief society sisters get together, it's bound to be a great time!  We had a friday night craft night and got to make some of the cutest stuff.  For those who know me best, know how much I love snowmen.  And if you didn't know that, you do now!  :)  So here is the result of a good three hours hard work.  I should make mention that the 'give thanks' block was made by my friend Ashley.  Turns out I signed up for more than I had time to make!  Take a look!

Thankful

I felt it was a fitting title.  I am currently sitting at the mac listening to Josh Groban's Noel CD.  I cannot believe the power of a voice.  I love music.  It can stir emotion like a lot of things can't.  It can bring memories of the happiest, saddest, strangest, joyful most content times of my live.  Don't let me ramble.  I just love music.  Normally I would refuse to break out the Christmas music before Thanksgiving day, unless of course i needed my fix, but this CD was a gift and I couldn't resist!  There is a song on there called Thankful.  my goodness.  And so, I am thankful.  It is not just for this song that I am thankful.  I have had this feeling of overwhelming gratitude for quite some time.  And since it is now the season of gratitude, although we should always strive to show gratitude, I will now list the things nearest and dearest to me that i am so thankful for.
my Heavenly Father
my Savior, Jesus Christ
my dear husband Eric who works so hard to get us where we need to be and constantly makes me the happiest I have ever been.
I am grateful for the mounds of knowledge my husband is and that I can turn to him for anything.
I am grateful that I can be right sometimes.
I am grateful for laughter.
I am grateful for a little childs laughter. I love their giggles.
I am grateful for little kids and the example they can be to most adults.
My nieces and nephews.  they know how to unleash the kid in me. (it's not hard to do!)
my wonderful family. I can't say enough about them. their examples, strength, constant care and love.  I just love them.
my job.  I know, sometimes I'm not grateful.  Truly, it has sustained us more than I ever give it credit for.
our warm home.  It is shelter in cold times and a place for friends to gather. It is big enough for two or three or four.  (We'll try to be content with two for now.) :)
my visiting teaching partner, who every month is so committed and the perfect example.
good food.
great uplifting music.
pictures.
vehicles.
friendship.
hot cocoa
the Book of Mormon
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints
Pharmacy school.  It is one test after another for my sweetheart, but we are here and he is doing fine, and one day, oh say in about 2 years, we will be even more grateful than we are now, that he is here, and we made it through!
the telephone and internet.  I am more grateful for the telephone because there are less scary things that can happen through a phone than on the internet, but both help me keep in contact with those I love most!
the snow!  I know, i can't believe i'm saying it.  Maybe in March i'll be whistling a different tune.  But for now I can't wait for it to get here and to go play in it!
The Smith family.  This time of year always helps remind me of what the season is really about and this amazing family really helped me remember of the perfect love of our Brother, Jesus Christ.
snowmen.  i love them.  Big guys, little guys, round ones, square ones.  I'm addicted!
cold crisp air on a fall morning.
the Spirit of the Christmas season around town and within every one of us during that time.
turkey and stuffing and rolls and cherry pie and PICKLES AND OLIVES!! a thanksgiving dinner just wouldn't be the same without pickles and olives.
i am so grateful for every day that Heavenly Father blesses me with.  I have come close to not seeing another day before, and I have been so blessed to stick around and enjoy more of the things that make me happiest in life.
I am also very grateful for the knowledge I have that my family can be together always and that there is more to this life than just living here and dying here.

Eric always reminds me that the key is brief. I should not ramble and make long post.  I felt I needed to list things I am most grateful for and I'm sure I left a couple million things out! At this time of year and especially right now in the world, when it is so easy to feel down and in despair, lets all try to remember the things that we are grateful for and realize how truly blessed we really are.  HAPPY THANKS GIVING!!! Lets do just that!

Much love, Sara

For inquiring minds!

Here is the easy as ever directions for making these yummy treats!

Items you will need:
Hershey hugs
Hershey Kisses
M&M's ( i used the fun halloween ones)
pretzel (snaps kind. they look like grids)

Preheat your oven to whatever you want.  I did a batch at 300 degrees and then a batch at 235 degrees.  Lower is probably better.  Unwrap a bag of Kisses and a bag of hugs.  I used parchment paper this time to line my cookie sheet.  this is not needed but clean up was a lot easier.  Put as many pretzels on the sheet as you would like and set hugs and kisses on the pretzels.  Place in the oven and let melt.  There is no exact amount of time to keep in oven.  Watch closely so they don't melt completely.  When you notice chocolate beginning to droop, it is time to remove them from the oven. (about 2-4 minutes)  Put an M&M on each chocolate and push down if needed.  Place in a very cool place to let cool.   P.S.  Hugs melt a lot faster than Kisses, so if you can, put these on a separate cookie sheet.  No big deal if you don't!  Easiest treat i have ever made!!

I used candy cane kisses for christmas and used red and green M&Ms.  You can used strawberry kisses and blue M&M's for the 4th of july.  there are so many options!  enjoy!

Its just for fun!

I'm not a huge fan of halloween.  I don't know what it is.  I have fun when I dress up.  I have fun at parties. I'm guessing it has something to do with the haunted houses.  I don't enjoy putting myself in positions where a person in a mask and a bloody (not the english swear word) costume is chasing me with his claws and chain saw.   I also enjoy the decorations.  I love fall.  LOVE IT!  I like putting things around the house that smell like fall and give my house a nice warm feeling.  And last but not least, I love the treats.  This year I have vowed to be a lot better with my sugar intake.  You know, the whole diabetic thing and halloween candy don't really mesh well.  I like making things for other peoples enjoyment though.  So for work and a few friend gatherings I have made these delicious treats!  thanks to my little sister Laura!  I found these M&M's in awesome colors and put them to good use!  Hugs, Kisses, pretzels and M&Ms.  I think they are adorable and delicious!  Happy Halloween!

I love you sweets

So, just a quick little entertaining story to maybe make someone's day.  Last night Eric and I were in bed and I was reading the scriptures out loud. We were reading Doctrine and Covenants 122.  I love the words in that chapter.  They are a constant reminder that all things in this life are for our good.  My good.  anyway, back to the point.  So in all of this reading, there are quite a few thous and thees.  In fact, in the last verse or maybe last 2 verses I read the word thee.  We had already said our prayers and so as I finished reading we put away our scriptures and turned out the lights.  I rolled over and said, "I love thee, sweets."  and in all seriousness Eric said right back, "I love thee too sweetheart."  I started laughing before he made it to "thee."  I had realized what I'd said and there was no going back.  It was a complete accident, but I think it will stick.  On that note, Eric, I love thee, sweets!

Random Tag!

Rules are:  List 7 random/weird facts about yourself.
Then, tag 7 random/weird people.  So here goes:

1:  People in costumes creep me out. Not just a halloween costume.  We're talking Disneyland, people under huge costumes.  You have no idea who they are and you can't see them.  Why would I give tigger a hug?  It is just some random guy in a costume and I wouldn't hug just some random guy on a normal occasion.  Call me crazy, I just don't like 'em.

2:  For meals all of my dishes and silver have to match.  And if there is a design on the plate, they all have to be facing the same direction.  Drives me crazy if someone has a different cup or spoon, and don't even think about turning your plate!  Seriously, don't!

3:  Every 6 years, my birthday is on Thanksgiving!  When I was little I used to think that everyone was getting together to eat a massive dinner for my birthday.  Silly kids!

4:  I am not superstitious or any kind of stitious for that matter, but  since I have been diagnosed with diabetes, nearly 14 years ago(!) every  years at the same time of year, something related with hospitals happens to me.  For instances:  December 6th I got to come home from the hospital after being diagnosed with Diabetes.  6 years later on December 6th I had to go to the hospital for ketoacidosis.  (don't ask.  it's scarier than it sounds ;))  and again 6 years later on December 6th my dear sweet husband Eric had to call 911 and have the paramedics come inject me with glucose.  I guess I should have eaten more candy.  Needless to say I might be pulling an all nighter when that time rolls around again.  So yeah, me and December 6th.

5:  Which brings me to my next topic.  Numbers.  I have no idea why, but I have an extremely good memory when it comes to numbers.  I can remember every password, I can remember dates of things from when I was very young, I remember birthdays, and I can remember random peoples phone numbers.  However, I must admit that this whole speed dial thing throws that off a bit.  Sometimes it drives me crazy all the numbers I can remember.

6:  I can't do much without music.  I like the silence sometimes.  I like to be able to think.  But most of the time music is my outlet.  I love lots of types of music.  I love playing music.  I love listening to live music.  I love new types of music.  I just love it.  A great creation for sure!

7:  I don't like to use mops.  I would way rather get on the floor with a rag and a bucket of water and start scrubbing away.  This drives Eric crazy, therefore, I am working on that quirk.  Mops are fine, but I never think the floor gets as clean.  Also, I love to clean.  It has to be when Eric is away from the house and I can turn up the music (refer to #6).  I love to scrub and rearrange things and get in every nook and cranny.  (this deep cleaning doesn't happen as often as i'd like)

Now, I hope that you are all entertained by these things that I have shared with you.  I'm sure there are many more like how I hate the word used for tooting (thats not much better) that starts with an "f"  or how every cupboard door, drawer, closet, or any door for that matter needs, has to be shut.

So now I tag: Ashley H, Jill H, Terra H, the other Ashley H, Summer, Kim, Shannon, Heather

Creative Bug

This is not something that seems to stay with me at all times.  Occasionally, when we forget to spray for pests, the creative bug bites me.  Not painful, but needs to be attended to ASAP!  I was invited to a baby shower for my friend and once neighbor Melissa.  She is having a boy, and I wanted to make her a growth chart.  I had made a few in the past and had some extra boards lying around.  So.... ta da!  Here is the board and a card I made her.
never mind the dirty apartment carpet!
It is a board that you hang so that it is 6'1" off the ground and you can hang it anywhere!

Then today as Eric had a big day of football watching planned, I decided to make some plans of my own.  Now as I said in my previous blog entry, I like my fair share of football, but today was a day to be making something, not watching something.  So, I invited my friend Beth to make these for our husbands at her house while they watch football at our house.  Here is the outcome. The lid

a few of the insides hanging out the front

The "bad call brick" is a sponge painted red.  looks pretty cool, i think.
On a more random note.....When Eric and I were doing our Saturday chores last weekend, I noticed yellow jackets all over our back porch.  I'm not talking about a collection of yellow coats we have on our patio.  these were flying, irritating, black and yellow, buzzing, stinging yellow jackets.  They had all been swarming into one little spot on our siding.  After some coaxing Eric put an end to it all.  Thank you punks!

after

Can you!?  Look at em all!  and those were just the ones that had landed!

We are Montanians...Montanionians...Montanans...

Yes.  It's true my friends.  We are no longer Utahns.  (at heart, maybe. close call)  Because we have lived here over a year now, we are considered Montanans according to the state of Montana.  However, it took some convincing to get the University to feel the same about us kids from Utah.  Since I've worked here over a year, cars registered here, driver's licenses, MT phones, MT taxes have been filed/paid we decided to apply for in state tuition.  We thought "look at our qualifications.  We're in, right?"  WRONG!!  After applying and being turned down and appealing with the President of the school, we are pleased to announce that we are full blown, official, Montanans!  Whew!  For those of you who don't know what that means,  think brand spankin new car.  That is what we will save!  We are so grateful!  I just wanted to share that awesome news!

on a side note:  Football season is in and Eric is in love once again.  Saturday is a special day.  Its the day we watch the NCAA! We do some chores and we grill some food, so we can watch all  Erics teams play!  I have enjoyed a game here and there. and honestly the feelings I experience with the game noise in the background as I clean the house is nothing less than pure happiness! I am very excited to attend a Griz game here or there.  They are the best.  It's fantastic!  GO GRIZ!!!

The greatest Monday in September

We had big plans for Labor day this year.  We were going to float the river all day.  When we heard the weather would not permit us to do so, we decided to drive 2 hours and go to Flathead Lake and swim/tube there.  We then found that the weather there would also be crummy.  At that point we were determined to go somewhere.  We made plans to drive to Glacier Ntl Park on Monday morning no matter the weather.  We got a call Sunday from Erics sister inviting us to stay in one of their vacation properties.  Wahoo!  So sunday night we watched TV, popped the corn, drank hot cocoa and called it a night.  Monday we drove to Glacier and it was beautiful then cold and gray and then beautiful.  We had a blast.  It snowed a bit.  We had fun!  Thank heavens we live in Heavenly Fathers most beautiful mountain areas!
